Philosophy, Goals and Vision
Philosophy
At The Learning Ladder, we are committed to providing education for all children 0 to 6 years, no matter their abilities, social status, race, or gender.
We are passionate about ensuring our families are part of their children’s learning and development through our open-door policy, and communication is key to everything that we do.
We value our parents as the first teacher and ask for their input regularly.
We feel that children learn best through their own play in an environment that is positive, respectful, unhurried, and calm, with some structured times to assist in the transition to school process for our 4 to 5-year-olds.
We feel that the learning and mastering of their social and emotional skills is just as important as reading, writing, counting, colours, and shapes, this is a belief backed up by our community connections with our local schools.
We understand that all children come from different backgrounds and cultures and each culture needs to be respected and acknowledged to allow the child to understand themselves and the world around them.
We strongly believe in our connections to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, our curriculum Te Whāriki, and their teachings, values, and history.
We feel it is important to impart our country's history and culture on to all families through our door, in a respectful and open way that enlightens all people to our country.
We believe that in practicing our philosophy our children will develop:
Respect for themselves and others
Confidence and a “give it a try” attitude
Curiosity and imagination
Friendly, caring, and honest behaviour
Linking to our core values:
Goals
With the guidance and support of our educators, our educational play-based program will assist your child with:

Confidence and 'give it a try' attitude
Curiosity and imagination
Friendly and caring behavior
As we are licensed for children from 3 months to 5 years, we understand the different needs and requirements from babies to toddlers to preschoolers. Our team of educators are experienced in caring for children of these age groups.
We aim to develop and maintain strong links with our surrounding primary schools to ensure that our 4-5 year old children are well prepared for beginning school.
Our centre provides a dynamic teaching and learning environment, one that gives each child a chance to play, discover, and to grow in an atmosphere of care and mutual respect; children, regardless of race, gender, age, ability, social status, or family structure can participate in all aspects of a challenging and unique educational program.
